About the job Cashier (External Applications Only)

Accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation, thereby ensuring Customer satisfaction. Ensure that no goods/stock pass through the Point of Sale (POS) without it being paid for.


Requirements

  1. Grade 12 or minimum of 1 (one) year work related experience
  2. Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available
  3. Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
  4. Must have strong administration skills
  5. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and Public Holidays
  6. Must be able to work under pressure

Cash Handling

  1. Ensure that all cash (including floats and petty cash) allocated to you balance (No shorts and overs)
  2. Ensure goods are correctly identified and captured on the Point of Sale Terminal.
  3. Capture the correct payment type received from Customers on the Point of Sale Terminal
  4. Ensure you have sufficient change at all times
  5. Ensure Pick-ups are done accurately and within the set parameters
  6. Ensure Cash-ups are done accurately at the end of your shift
  7. Ensure all your daily takings have been dropped into the Drop Safe/vault
  8. Ensure that all transactions relating to other stores money, deliveries, and quotes are processed correctly.

Administration

  1. Sign, compile, and file all related documentation relating to the Cashiers function

Customer Service

  1. Offer fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild Customers when checking in and out Customers goods
  2. Direct Customers to relevant person who can assist him/her
  3. Ensure that you comply with the company’s dress code

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  1. Safety (OHSA) compliance (e.g. ensure Customer and staff safety) within area of responsibility
  2. Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

  1. Security (e.g. ensure system password control at till point are adhered to)
  2. Ensure cash safe keeping and transport to the cash office as per the Cashbuild Way requirements

  1. Achieves set targets and completes work accurately and at the required standard
  2. Delivers best practice quality/standards as established in the company
  3. Makes an effort to follow through on commitments
