Job description

Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg is an Independent Boys’ School and is seeking a full-time employee to join our financial administration team as a cashbook clerk. This position offers a unique opportunity for a newly qualified graduate or an experienced person.

The successful candidate would be responsible for the following areas:

  1. Purchase requisitions, cashbook, creditors, and ad hoc payments
  2. Prepare the required documentation and authorisation for payment
  3. Scanning and allocation of all payment documents into Hubdoc
  4. Daily extraction and distribution of bank statements to debtors clerks
  5. The accurate allocation of cash on the company’s main bank accounts
  6. Maintain accurate reconciliation between bank statements and accounting process
  7. Keeping the bank balance and accounting system imports in balance at all times
  8. Perform ad hoc financial duties for example GL recons, Journals, and Cash flow
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing of all relevant documents

The following interpersonal traits would contribute meaningfully to the position and financial team:

  1. Ability to communicate effectively
  2. Develop team collaboration and understand the role of a team in accomplishing objectives
  3. Takes a cohesive and encouraging approach to teamwork

A formal accounting or bookkeeping qualification would be beneficial but not essential. Experience in a similar financial role (cashbook, creditors, debtors, bookkeeping, etc.) would be beneficial. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets, and be able to work accurately with data. A willingness to work additional hours is required. The successful candidate should ideally understand, identify, and contribute to the Catholic ethos and Christian values of the school.
