If you have a passion for niche short-term insurance and possess a strong cashbook clerk background in the short-term insurance or reinsurance industry, Compass Insure has an interesting opportunity for a Cashbook Clerk within the Finance unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining cashbook: Capturing entries, preparing premium and claims interface files.
  • Processing of invoices and preparation of creditor reconciliations: Ensuring that expenses have been allocated to the correct accounts and VAT has been correctly processed. Extracting vendor list and ensuring that all invoices have been paid and investigating any differences in reconciliations to statements.
  • Processing of journals: Capture journals, attach valid support.
  • Reconciliations: Prepare reconciliations for fixed assets, various provisions, certain liabilities and debtor accounts.
  • MANEX: Prepare a comparison and provide an analysis month on month for management information purposes.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Engage with and collaborate with internal team members as well as across teams within the finance and wider teams in the organisation.
  • Audit management: Provide all requested information to auditors during the annual internal and external audits. Ensure internal controls are in place with relevant document management for internal and external audits to ensure compliance.

You Come Equipped With:

  • Undergraduate qualification in Accounting or Finance or similar business degree.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to distil and communicate complex financial information and reports to various parties.
  • Effective time management and accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Ability to critically assess and review own work.
  • Computer skills – MS Office (Excel - Advanced, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP (Advantage).
