Job description

Join to apply for the Case Management Officer role at Motor Industry Bargaining Council.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and account for stationery, consumable levels
  2. Attend to professionally drafted correspondence, posting, serving, and courier documents
  3. Generate case management reports when requested
  4. Assist at reception (front office) or other Case Manager
  5. Allocate all applications and maintain proper records, diaries, and file notes
  6. Book venues, interpreters, and panelists for cases with proper notice in terms of DRC rules
  7. Capture and schedule cases and notify parties, manage effective correspondence with parties
  8. Case management and take instructions from MC where necessary
  9. Manage all DRC files in good professional order with all file notes and trails
  10. Maintain and update CMS and diaries in professional order
  11. Ensure non-jurisdiction matters are transferred to the correct forum and notify parties
  12. Interpretation if required
  13. Manage venues and attendees in a professional manner
  14. Liaise with the CCMA, MIBCO, and Labour Court / DOL professionally when required
  15. Manage referrals from the referred stage to the closed status on CMS maintaining regional efficiency and run required reports
  16. Oversee and complete SECT applications and maintain a register
  17. Process applications for postponement in terms of the rules
  18. Process condonations and rescission applications in terms of the rules
  19. Screen referral documents and notify party if the referral is defective and advise on areas of remedy needed
  20. Allocate cases to panelists and compile proper accounts for payment
  21. Handle complaints and queries professionally
  22. Receive and assist callers and visitors professionally and methodically
  23. Assist with interpreting of cases when required

Knowledge / Experience / Skills / Requirements:

  1. Good verbal communication and excellent listening skills
  2. Ability to withstand pressure and provide above average services
  3. Must at all times be professional, diplomatic, and assertive
  4. Ability to work independently and use initiative along with problem-solving abilities
  5. Ability to hold professional relationships with stakeholders, i.e. parties of the Council, clients, and management team
  6. Adopt appropriate interpersonal style in achieving task accomplishment, modifying behavior according to tasks and individuals involved
  7. Must be a good team player and achieve objectives and comply with all directives as set out by the Managing Commissioner
  8. Must be meticulous in carrying out tasks/instructions and be fully accountable for all work
  9. Must be patient and accommodating and be able to work independently if needed
  10. Knowledge of the Dispute Resolution Centre processes would be an added advantage
  11. Knowledge of the Case Management System would be an advantage
  12. Knowledge of Labour Relations Act would be an advantage
