Buyer (Y.E.S Programme)

The Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S) programme in South Africa aims to address youth unemployment by providing young people between the ages of 18 - 35 years with opportunities to gain work experience, skills development, and employment.

We would like to invite you to apply for the Buyer Y.E.S Programme position that will be based in our Springs Offices.

A position within the Y.E.S Programme at Saint-Gobain offers you an opportunity to gain skills and work experience for a period of 12 months. There is a monthly stipend of R6,000 per month and a travelling allowance of R500 which is offered to the successful candidate.

We require someone to carry out the tasks listed below:

1. Purchase goods and services at the right quality, quantity, time, price and sources to maximize value for Saint-Gobain.
2. Manage capable and secure supply base to deliver business needs through best procurement practices.
3. Deliver successful projects where nominated as the project leader or project member.
4. Use SAP MRP data and internal customer input to place, expedite and reconcile purchase orders.
5. Resolve all supplier payments issues and blocked invoices queries (Parked List).
6. Support Saint-Gobain’s common goals and vision by working with local and global team members, cross functional teams, other departments and functions to deliver on commitments.
7. Adhere to all Saint-Gobain’s policies and procedures and proactively educate the business on purchasing procedures and systems.
8. Update the budget, sourcing portfolio, spend, supply planning and KPI files on a weekly basis.
9. Highlight any supply risk identified to the business.
10. Log and resolve claims logged against suppliers.

Is this job for you?

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain & Logistics Management. The individual should be assertive, well spoken with good verbal and written communication skills. Should be resilient, able to work under pressure, analytical thinker and using logic to address work-related issues. Must have strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
