Buyer (Purchasing / SAP) required in Somerset West.

A renowned Aviation Engineering company is looking for a “Buyer” to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town.

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 or NQF Equivalent
  • 5 years + Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Tech Diploma in Purchasing and or Logistics / BCom Degree
  • Able to handle stress well
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Effective communication with customers and team members.
  • Basic knowledge of composites manufacturing processes
  • Good technical skills
  • Good communication skills and computer literate
  • Physical demands are sitting and working long hours

Key responsibilities:

  • Procurement Planning: Manage and plan purchasing activities by analyzing stock levels, demand, and vendor performance.
  • Purchase Order Management: Create, approve, and manage purchase orders (POs) in SAP, ensuring all necessary data is accurate and complete.
  • Vendor Management: Work with suppliers to negotiate terms, resolve issues, and maintain relationships. This includes updating vendor information in the SAP system.
  • Material Management: Monitor inventory levels, ensure timely replenishment, and oversee the delivery of goods, including goods receipt processing in SAP.
  • Invoice Verification: Coordinate with accounts payable to verify invoices against purchase orders and goods receipts for accurate payments.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Generate reports on procurement activities, track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, delivery times, and vendor performance using SAP tools.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal requirements, and maintain accurate records within the SAP system.
  • Coordination with Internal Departments: Collaborate with departments like logistics, finance, and production to align purchasing strategies with company objectives.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to orders, deliveries, or payments in SAP.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, reduce costs, and improve system efficiency using SAP tools.
