Key Performance Areas:
Responsible for sourcing and negotiating cost effective and timeous procurement and distribution of materials and supplies – this entails sourcing suppliers, securing, and reviewing prices and expediting the orders with suppliers to meet production or general material deadlines – this will require sourcing of new products streams, find new vendors, and develop best practice procurement strategies.
The Senior Buyer supervises the assistants and ensures statutory compliance and adherence to company policies, procedures and BOS to perfection.
Collaborate nationally to leverage potential group savings as and when required.
Analyse spend data to identify cost-saving areas.
Assume responsibility for supplier selection process and keep adding new suppliers.
Support the Estimator with buying prices at tender stage.
Determine the best procurement methods and negotiate pricing to obtain best value.
Monitor and evaluate suppliers and provide feedback in the form of rating.
Conduct regular meetings with suppliers to discuss inefficiencies, better savings and service.
Find the best supplier or manufacturer to supply directly to site, cut middleman out where possible.
Reprice tenders after awards are in line with BOS system process.
Ensure alignment and delivery against national buying process flows by receiving requests, obtaining quotes, vendor selection and timeous delivery.
Participate in and support negotiations after awards and reprice tenders to best of ability.
Identify and report all potential savings or losses to CM and QS of each job.
Develop and maintain in-depth information on all products to ensure accurate order fulfilment.
Report all risks and opportunities at time of award and start-up meetings.
Ensure correct prices at time of award.
Identify potential risks and opportunities at start-up meeting and continue to make savings as the job progresses if possible.
Negotiate savings, cost avoidance and value add on an ongoing basis.
Conduct Build Smart training for Site Clerks and Site Agents.
Submit reports of spend and trends at HOD meetings.
Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and employees.
Ensure team conduct in accordance with brand and company standards.
Ensure team performance contributes to positive customer experience and customer satisfaction metrics.
Contribute to team performance and morale and bring positive energy to the team environment.
