Ogilvy Social.Lab is seeking a visionary and experienced Business Unit Director:
The Business Unit Director Market is a critical leadership role within Ogilvy Social.Lab, responsible for driving growth and success within a specific geographic market. This involves close collaboration with other Ogilvy offices within the assigned market, fostering strong partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, managing recruitment and resource allocation, and leading a high-performing client service team. The Market Lead acts as the primary point of contact for their designated market, championing Social.Lab's capabilities and driving integration with other Ogilvy services. This role requires a deep understanding of the digital landscape, exceptional client service skills, strong business acumen, and proven leadership capabilities.
This role reports into the Business Partner, and its purpose is to manage and lead a particular business unit, specifically an entire market, for Ogilvy Social.Lab. This includes:
- Market Development: Develop and execute strategic market growth, focusing on expanding Social.Lab's presence and influence within the assigned market. This includes collaboration on new business opportunities within the Ogilvy network, building strong relationships with key stakeholders in other Ogilvy offices, and promoting Social.Lab's expertise and capabilities across Digital and Social Content Creation, Digital Strategy and Intelligence, and Digital Media.
- Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Account Directors, Account Managers, and Account Executives, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance. This includes setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and coaching, and supporting the professional development of team members.
- Recruitment & Resource Management: Proactively assess resourcing needs within the market, collaborating with Talent Acquisition to recruit top talent and ensure optimal team structure and capacity. This includes identifying skill gaps, developing job descriptions, participating in interviews, and onboarding new hires.
- Collaboration & Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with other Ogilvy offices and departments, fostering seamless collaboration and integration of services. This includes participating in cross-functional teams, sharing best practices, and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives.
- New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned market, working closely with subject matter experts to identify potential solutions, develop compelling proposals and pitches. This includes conducting market research, identifying potential clients, and developing winning strategies.
- Financial Management: Contribute to the financial health of the business unit by managing budgets, monitoring revenue and profitability, and ensuring accurate forecasting. This includes working closely with Finance to track performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in an account servicing role within a digital agency, ideally within a global role with a proven track record of success.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing and leading a team, demonstrating strong leadership and mentorship skills.
- Deep understanding of the digital landscape, including social media, content marketing, media planning and buying, and creative development.
- Strong business acumen, including financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a global or multi-market environment is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Ogilvy's values and culture.

Performance will be measured against key indicators including market growth, revenue generation, team performance, and client satisfaction.
