Are you well-connected with top-tier end-users in the C&I sector and have direct access to key players in the mining industry and large off-takers? Do you possess a deep understanding of the South African electricity sector and experience in REIPP financing projects? Do you have experience in and a SOLID understanding of energy trading?

Ideally, you would have connections in Eskom and have an embedded understanding of the energy regulations in South Africa. Grid-connection is your magnum opus.

With your cache of big-ticket energy buyers (20MW+++) and 7+ years of experience in the C&I / utility-scale market, you make identifying profitable business opportunities and developing sustainable strategies to execute them look easy.

In addition to this, you are an expert in risk mitigation and the negotiation of business deals and partnerships. Your embedded knowledge of the market means that you are able to develop sustainable de-risking strategies and are stellar at generating profitable leads.

Responsibilities

As a Business Development Manager, your role would involve identifying market trends, assessing key risks, and negotiating business deals and partnerships. Your primary responsibilities would include:

1. Refining and executing a multi-pronged market penetration strategy, focusing on both acquiring C&I customers and procuring IPP projects.
2. Developing a three-year growth plan in terms of megawatts added and technology.
3. Identifying medium-to-long-term new business opportunities such as cross-border baseload imports and partnerships with big-ticket stakeholders.
4. Leading engagements with Eskom and NERSA to identify opportunities for our client to provide input into future market design and regulatory changes.
5. Spearheading strategic engagements with South African financiers to support our client's business model, propose product and service innovations, and provide periodic structured market research and intelligence inputs into strategy review sessions.
6. Building cross-functional team relationships essential for guiding sustainable, long-term growth while fostering an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company.
7. Identifying sponsorship opportunities, representing our client at key events and forums, fulfilling requests for proposals from potential partners and customers, and contributing to the development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.
8. Playing a crucial role in developing plans for further staffing requirements and establishing office presence.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or engineering field.
• Additional master's degree in MBA, marketing, or the legal field advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

• 7+ years experience in the C&I industry in South Africa. Well-established network of end-users crucial.
• 4+ years experience in a management role.
• Proven track record of lead generation.

Package & Remuneration

R1,5mil - R1,8mil CTC per annum
