Accountabilities & Responsibility Areas

Commercial

1. To ensure that Alistair Group wins as much work and maximizes profitability as much as possible.
2. Synthesize information from subcontracting team, operations teams, sales team, agents and border/port reports in order to determine market rates and key targets on a twice-monthly basis.
3. Develop a pipeline of future opportunities and position The Company to win key tenders.
4. Ensure that accurate and 'winning' quotations are submitted whenever possible.
5. Maintain a competitor analysis to assist strategically and for transfer pricing purposes.
6. Close the loop of financial recons and quotations to ensure that we focus our time on the most profitable routes possible. Ensure this data is fed back into the Quote Calculator via BD support.
7. Develop pricing models and strategies which will position Alistair Group as the market leader for our own fleet and subcontracted fleet.

Business Development

1. Working closely with the Pricing Lead to ensure pricing is effectively executed upon for all tenders and business development opportunities.
2. To ensure that the Group wins as much work and maximizes profitability related to commodity trading as well as business development in order to strategically position the company for continued growth, as well as growing the Operating Profit of the overall Business.
3. Develop a pipeline of future opportunities relating to the Trading portfolio.
4. Customer Relationship Management: update and maintain customer information and client interaction database.
5. Accountability for quick resolution of customer issues and queries.
6. Initiate communications with internal and external customers when appropriate to resolve issues or convey information.

Key Accounts Management

1. To ensure that Alistair Group wins as much work and maximizes profitability as much as possible with its customer base.
2. Manage, maintain and improve the relationship with Alistair Group’s customers.
3. Support the Road Freight sales team to ensure they are pursuing the best opportunities.
4. Develop a pipeline of future opportunities and position The Company to win key tenders.
5. Maintain a competitor analysis to assist strategically and for transfer pricing purposes.
6. Develop and manage strategy between the various business units.

Education, Skills & Qualifications

1. Relevant Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
2. 5 years’ successful track record in a commercial or business development role.
3. Experience in the Logistics Industry / Supply Chain Management / Mining & Minerals.
4. Work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. Asia exposure is highly advantageous.
5. Well organized and has good attention to detail.
