Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Business Development Assistant to join our dynamic team in the sheet metal fabrication industry. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience working within this industry and possess strong research and analytical abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

As a Business Development Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and business strategies. This position requires someone who can work independently, as well as within a team, to help drive new business opportunities and support existing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities through various channels like online platforms and networking for the company's sheet metal fabrication services.
  • Gather information on competitors and potential clients through online research, database analysis, and other available sources.
  • Analyze market data to identify growth opportunities and potential areas for expansion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Follow up with potential customers, providing information about products, and nurturing relationships.
  • Coordinate meetings between BDO and potential customers, managing calendars and sending reminders.
  • Schedule appointments and follow up with leads.
  • Manage schedules, coordinate meetings, and handle correspondence.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management on business development efforts.
  • Provide detailed analysis on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
  • Monitor competitor activities and identify potential areas for differentiation.
  • Perform any other administrative duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or a related role within the sheet metal fabrication industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with clients and internal teams.
  • Good telephone communication etiquette.
  • High level of analytical thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, industry standards, and trends.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and securing new business opportunities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying client needs and providing tailored solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CRM software and other business development tools.
  • Background in sales or marketing within the manufacturing or fabrication sector.
  • A matric certification and at least 10 years of work experience.
  • Sales and Marketing tertiary qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
