Built Environment Contracts Specialist (JB5164)

Chintsa, Eastern Cape

3-year Fixed Term Contract

Seeking an experienced Built Environment Contracts Specialist to oversee contract management for a three-year construction project focused on RDP housing and clinic developments in Chintsa, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will ensure that all contractual agreements comply with industry regulations and standards while supporting the project team in delivering on time, within budget, and to the required quality specifications. Candidates that meet all requirements and are available to start by no later than 20 March 2025 are invited to apply.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Relevant qualification in the Built Environment (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or related field).
  2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in buildings, structural works, and infrastructure projects.
  3. Experience as a Principal Engineer, Engineer, or Project Manager in large-scale construction projects.
  4. Professional Registration (One or more of the following is required):
  • SACAP – Registered as an Architect, Senior Architectural Technologist, or Architectural Technologist.
  • SACQSP – Registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor.
  • SACPCMP – Registered as a Construction Project Manager.
  • ECSA – Registered as a Professional Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and compliance regulations.
  • Experience managing contract negotiations, tender processes, and contractor agreements.
  • Ability to oversee project risk, dispute resolution, and contract enforcement.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Manage and oversee all contractual agreements related to the project, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
    2. Develop, review, and negotiate contract terms with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
    3. Ensure that procurement and tendering processes align with project timelines and budgets.
    4. Monitor contract performance, project progress, and financial commitments.
    5. Work closely with the Project Manager, engineers, and construction teams to address contract-related issues.
    6. Provide expert advice on risk management, claims, and dispute resolution.
    7. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the contractual framework.
    8. Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure project compliance.
