- In the short term, our Bookkeeper will be responsible for supporting our Financial Accountant to support our current learning communities.
- In the medium term, the successful candidate will help to build the foundations for a scalable finance function across many more learning communities.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF FOCUS:
BOOKKEEPER
- OBJECTIVE: Support school leadership teams to build learning communities where our learners, staff, parents, and shareholders thrive.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
OPERATIONS, SYSTEMS, PROCESSES, POLICIES & PROCEDURES:
A successful candidate will:
- Accounting: ensure that our accounting records are accurate, complete, and valid each month and support the Financial Accountant in preparing monthly management accounts (e.g., draft income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements);
- Accounts payable & payments: support procurement processes alongside each school’s Operations Manager, review age analysis, reconciliations, payments, etc.;
- Accounts receivable and billing & collections: manage accounts receivable, bad debt provisions, review age analysis, reconciliations, and support the Debtors Manager as required;
- Audit: assist the Financial Accountant in addressing any external audit queries;
- Fixed asset register: maintain fixed asset registers;
- Internal audit and related internal controls: assist the Financial Accountant in conducting regular internal audits and reviewing controls;
- Systems & processes: support the Financial Accountant in designing, developing, optimizing, and implementing internal systems, processes, policies, and procedures (including automation of processes).
REMUNERATION:
Market-related and dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Total cost-to-company between R37,500 – 45,000 per month.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement is a 3-year degree in accounting or financial management.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Education sector experience would be advantageous.

- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills;
- Attention to detail with a strong focus on execution;
- A committed team player with good communication skills.
