BI Analyst

Our innovative organisation based in Umhlanga seeks a skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to enhance and improve the top-line business understanding and decision-making processes by collecting, analyzing, and reporting of data to the various business departments.

The successful incumbent must display strong multi-tasking and problem skills. We require a pragmatic and thorough self-starter who enjoys working independently as well as within a team environment. The ability to work in a dynamic results-oriented environment is essential.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. You must have the ability to create both standardized and custom reports, analyse the data within and report to the business department on the findings.
2. Assist in the development of standardized tools, methodologies, and various business processes for the purpose of refining operational efficiency and identifying areas for improvement across business KPIs.
3. Possess experience in all stages of BI project work (requirements, design, implementation, testing and deployment)
4. Projects will range from small, distinct pieces of work to long-term program engagements.
5. You will be expected to deliver quality work on your assigned projects.
6. Work with business stakeholders to determine their business information needs and determine the right approach for collecting & presenting data as well as which analytical tool is required.
7. Assist with data collection and processing procedures considering the business requirements and data relationships.
8. Collect, sort, filter, analyse data and interpret the results to look for patterns and determine if the findings answer the business questions and are accurate.
9. Create written reports and/or data visualizations that business stakeholders can use to monitor metrics and make decisions.
10. Initiate and drive continuous improvement of all performance reporting in order to better manage the business.
11. Provide direction regarding patterns, trends, and market analysis to drive business decisions.
12. Writing relational and multidimensional database queries.
13. Building, implementing and supporting the BI solutions.
14. Assist in problem resolution to the team through problem research.
15. Your goal will be to build efficient solutions that solve business challenges in a fast-paced environment.
16. You will be working with business to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
17. You will be required to research new technologies from time to time, specifically where they relate to the strategic direction of the business, or a current project.
18. Translate business needs to technical specifications and deliver on the output.
19. Debugging, monitoring and troubleshooting solutions.
20. Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
21. You will also be required to perform administrative and other ad-hoc functions as and when required by the team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Matric / Grade 12
2. Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred) or Generic Management Level 5 qualification.
3. At least 3 years experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst within a call centre environment is essential.
4. Prior Accounting/Finance experience is preferred.
5. Familiarity with reporting in sales, marketing and other operational departments is required.
6. Must have solid working experience using the following tools:
   • Microsoft BI Tools (SQL/SSIS/SSRS/SSAS/PowerBI)
   • MySQL
   • R / Python
7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
8. Knowledge of business processes and functional areas.
9. Possess experience in all stages of BI project work (requirements, design, implementation, testing and deployment).
10. Experience in estimating solution development and delivering solutions against those estimates.
