The Basic Handyman Training Programme is a comprehensive 12-week course designed to equip participants with essential vocational skills, including basic welding techniques.

Please note: This is a training opportunity, and completion of the programme does not guarantee employment with Sappi or its contractors.

Programme Details:

1. Life Skills & Small Business Basics: In addition to hands-on training, all participants will receive guidance on basic life skills and how to run a small business.
2. Certificate of Attendance: Upon successful completion, candidates will receive a certificate.
3. While the programme is not accredited, it is of high quality and widely respected.
4. Post-Training Opportunities: Previous graduates have gone on to start small businesses, join apprenticeship programmes, or gain employment with Sappi and local contractors.
5. Eligibility for Apprenticeships: Successful participants will be eligible to apply for Sappi's apprentice bridging programme and entry-level positions within the company.
6. Costs & Funding: Sappi covers the full cost of the training, including daily meals valued at R30 per participant, and provides all necessary equipment and PPE.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Be a South African citizen.
2. Have completed at least Grade 10.
3. Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
4. Be able to read, understand, and speak English (the training is conducted in English).
5. Have a valid email address and cell phone number.
6. Never have attended the Basic Handyman Training Programme before.
7. Reside in the local community around Sappi Ngodwana Mill (proof of residence required).
8. Not currently be employed or studying.

1. Proof of qualification (Grade 10+).
2. ID copy.
3. Proof of residence (dated within the last 3 months).

Application Period: 09 April to 16 April.
