Responsibilities:

• The level III Software Engineer plays an integral part in a cross-functional team dedicated to the full software development lifecycle, from concept, to development, to deployment, and ultimately operating each product.
• Responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems and applications, considering scalability, performance, and future requirements.
• Guide and support developers and stakeholders in scoping, progress, status, and resolution of engineering problems.
• The Back-end Software Engineer plays a crucial role in building solutions that offer optimum performance, reliability, and scale.
• Responsible for writing and testing code for the development of the server-side components that power the application's functionality.

Education (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology

Knowledge and Experience

Experience:

• 6+ years’ proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery, and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language)
• Experience with back-end frameworks and technologies

Knowledge:

• Demonstrates expert knowledge of IT systems development processes (SDLC), application development, and complex programming concepts, including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• Skilled in RESTful API design and integration, with strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and query optimization techniques.
• Experienced with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, advanced microservice and event-driven architectures, and containerized deployments using Kubernetes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Exposure to Kafka and bot engineering further enhances adaptability to dynamic, data-driven environments.
