Position: Automation Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Technician to join our team. The Automation Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated systems and equipment to ensure smooth operations and efficiency in our manufacturing facility.

Core Activities:

1. Operation of Automation Machinery:
   • Oversee the day-to-day operations of automated equipment used in wire harness assembly.
   • Monitor the performance of machinery, ensuring they operate within the specified parameters.
   • Adjust machine settings for optimal performance and product quality.
2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
   • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on automation equipment to minimise downtime.
   • Diagnose and repair any malfunctions or breakdowns in a timely manner.
   • Keep records of maintenance activities and machine performance issues.
3. Quality Assurance:
   • Ensure that the products meet the required specifications and quality standards.
   • Implement quality control measures and adjust processes to improve product quality.
   • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to identify and rectify quality-related issues.
4. Process Optimization:
   • Continuously assess production processes to identify areas for efficiency improvement.
   • Implement changes or upgrades to machinery to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
   • Stay abreast of technological advancements that could benefit the production process.
5. Safety Compliance:
   • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
   • Conduct regular safety checks on equipment.
   • Train and guide other employees on safe operating procedures.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Maintain accurate records of operational parameters, maintenance activities, and any incidents.
   • Prepare reports on machinery performance, production output, and any issues encountered.
   • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding equipment status and production challenges.
7. Collaboration and Teamwork:
   • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to ensure cohesive production activities.
   • Participate in team meetings, providing insights and suggestions for process improvements.
   • Assist in training new staff on machine operation and safety procedures.
8. Innovation and Continuous Learning:
   • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in automation technology.
   • Participate in workshops, training, and seminars to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
   • Contribute to innovation initiatives within the company, such as exploring new automation solutions.

   • Solid grounding in mechanical and electrical engineering principles, crucial for operating and maintaining complex machinery.

   • Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues with automated equipment.

Requirements:

• Diploma, Technical degree or certification in automation, mechatronics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience working with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and other automated systems preferably in wire harness manufacturing or similar industry.
• Strong understanding of automation systems and mechanical/electrical principles.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automation.
