Job Title: Associate Medical Director

Location: Remote (Oregon or Washington State residents only)

Hours: 20-30 hours per week during ICM office hours (8 AM – 5 PM PST)

Position Summary:
The Associate Medical Director (AMD) plays a vital role by performing medical necessity reviews, supporting evidence-based medicine, engaging in peer-to-peer consultations, and providing clinical expertise for our programs, while also maintaining ICM’s philosophy of patient advocacy. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the AMD ensures compliance with evidence-based practices and serves as a key collaborator in aligning clinical operations with effective patient outcomes, contributing to the alignment of clinical operations with ICM’s strategic goals. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing within a collaborative and purpose-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical necessity reviews for prospective and retrospective cases.
  • Review and reference peer-reviewed literature to support determinations.
  • Provide written opinions with clear, evidence-based rationale, including citations.
  • Engage in peer-to-peer conversations as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for professional staff and provide medical expertise to support clinical programs by collaborating with clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with the CMO to ensure clinical operations align with patient advocacy and organizational strategy.
  • Support delegated activities related to URAC Accredited Independent Review Organizations (IRO).
  • Support quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clinical expertise and consult on special projects and company programs.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, company policies, and ethical business practices.

  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to clearly document medical determinations.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited program, required.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Oregon, required.
  • Board Certification in a recognized medical specialty, required.
  • Specialization in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Orthopedics, Neurology, or Internal Medicine, preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of post-graduate clinical experience, required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical management, utilization review, or quality improvement, preferred.

Salary: $72.12 - $110.58 per hr (Annually $150K - $230K)
