Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our dynamic team at a renowned seafood restaurant located at the Cape Town Waterfront. The ideal candidate will support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and managing staff performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
    • Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency and excellence.
    • Monitor service standards, ensuring a consistently high-quality dining experience.
    • Coordinate reservations, seating arrangements, and guest flow.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Uphold exceptional service standards, handling guest inquiries and complaints professionally.
    • Foster strong relationships with regular guests and ensure personalized service.
    • Resolve service issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction.
  3. Staff Management & Training:
    • Supervise and support front-of-house staff, ensuring teamwork and productivity.
    • Assist in staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Motivate and inspire team members to deliver outstanding customer service.
  4. Financial Management:
    • Assist in cost control, stock management, and ordering of supplies.
    • Monitor budgets, sales targets, and expenses in coordination with the Restaurant Manager.
    • Support cash-up and daily reconciliation processes.
  5. Marketing & Promotions:
    • Collaborate with management to drive promotional activities and special events.
    • Maintain a strong presence on the floor to enhance brand image and guest engagement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar Assistant Restaurant Manager or supervisory role in a high-end seafood or fine-dining restaurant.
  • Hospitality or restaurant management qualification is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, stock control, and financial management.
  • Passion for the hospitality industry and seafood cuisine.

Work Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a high-energy environment.
