Job description

Job Title: Asset Care Specialist

Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Engineering Department, based at our Gqeberha Manufacturing site. The successful incumbent will report to the Engineering Manager.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

  1. Held a relevant leadership position in asset care in the Engineering and Maintenance domain with good knowledge in asset care best practices.
  2. Excellent communicative and didactic skills.
  3. Enthusiasm in coaching people, successfully influencing and motivating teams.
  4. Project management and implementation of FIP and PIP.
  5. Drive Asset care and Autonomous maintenance using TPM practices.
  6. A strong technical background in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Chemical areas or equivalent education.
  7. Profound knowledge and experience in Reliability Engineering processes, including Root Cause Failure analysis, Fault tree analysis, (Potential) Failure Mode and criticality analysis (PFMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Predictive Maintenance Techniques, Statistical process control, Design Out Maintenance in projects, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Life cycle cost analysis (RAMs), Production Availability Modelling, and Documentation management.
  8. Associated software experience for the analysis mentioned above is a plus.
  9. Work management including Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, Performance tracking, Backlog management, Shutdown management, and Maintenance systems and tools (CMMS).
  10. Organization and Performance Management including Maintenance competencies, Key Performance indicators of Maintenance and Reliability, Maintenance cost Management, and operations planning.
  11. Service and Materials management including Outsourcing strategies, Service Level definition, Materials Resource Planning (MRP), Risk assessment, and Inventory management processes.
  12. Understanding of operational and managerial levels of Maintenance.
  13. High level of autonomy, with the ability to independently structure, analyse, and synthesize findings with minimum coaching.
  14. Understanding of continuous improvement principles and change management aspects of implementing an improvement program (OPEX experience is a plus).
  15. Strong problem-solving, analytical conceptual, and quantitative abilities.
  16. Pragmatic and action-oriented with an ability to produce measurable success.

The successful candidate must preferably have the following experience/skills:

  • Btech/BSC/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related qualification.
  • A deep understanding of engineering and maintenance asset care in an FMCG environment, with essential experience in a production plant.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a FMCG production environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent project, process, and people management skills.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Innovative, analytical, and pro-active.
  • Systematic in solving technical problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good business communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Sound planning and organizing abilities.
  • Proven previous Project Management experience.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Action and self-driven, motivated person.
  • Strong numerical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Goal and Service Orientated.
