ABOUT WESSELS:

The South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese-rich Kalahari Basin, in the country’s Northern Cape, which is home to 80 percent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our Wessels Mine which represents one of the largest manganese reserves in South Africa.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This role is a permanent full-time position.

As an Artisan Millwright, you will be responsible to attend to breakdowns and to conduct inspections and execute maintenance tasks on Processing plant, Heavy Mobile Machinery, and Loadout station equipment. You will be required to work shifts.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

1. Interpreting and coordinating pre-work with regards to repairs, planned and predictive maintenance;
2. Executing all maintenance work in a safe manner;
3. Performing lockouts and making the work area safe;
4. Testing and commissioning equipment prior to handover;
5. Identifying and recording all subsequent work found during the inspection activities;
6. Reporting of events and non-conformances;
7. Ensuring optimal asset life through the application of good maintenance practices.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

1. Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a qualified Millwright;
2. In-depth mechanical and electrical knowledge of Winders, shafts, compressors, conveyors, screens, crushers, hydraulic systems, and pumps is essential;
3. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings is essential;
4. Knowledge of Soft starters, Control and Instrumentation, and SAP is advantageous.

Qualifications for this role are:

1. Serious contenders will have an N2 Technical Certificate (Internal Candidates) and N3 Technical Certificate (External Candidates) with a recognized Millwright trade test.
2. Valid Code B (08) Driver’s license is essential.
