The Application Engineer will be responsible for the calibration of machines, providing demonstrations and services for 3D scanning and printing solutions, reverse engineering, and delivering training on these technologies. The role will also involve the use of measuring equipment (e.g., Vernier, callipers), alongside a strong understanding of basic CAD/CAM principles to support accurate inspections and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will need to have a high level of problem-solving skills to manage calibration, inspection, and client support effectively.
Perform calibration and maintenance tasks for machines such as CMMs, 3D Printers & Scanners as well as Video Measuring Machines, ensuring they operate accurately and within specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime.
Conduct regular inspections of machines and components using measuring instruments such as Vernier callipers, micrometres, and other precision tools. Analyse inspection data to identify deviations, ensuring products meet quality standards. Implement corrective actions based on quality control findings.
Demonstrate 3D scanning and printing solutions to clients, showcasing capabilities and providing technical support. Assist clients with 3D scanning, 3D printing, and reverse engineering services to create accurate models for further manufacturing or modification. Provide technical recommendations and solutions based on client needs and requirements.
Deliver training sessions on the use of 3D scanning and printing equipment, CAD/CAM software, and measurement techniques. Ensure clients understand the full capabilities of the equipment and are trained to use it safely and effectively.
Assist with reverse engineering projects, converting physical objects into 3D models that can be modified or reproduced. Utilize CAD/CAM software to create detailed designs and assist in the manufacturing process.
Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address technical issues related to machine calibration, 3D scanning/printing, and quality control. Develop and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
Strong understanding of CAD/CAM principles and software (Such as Autodesk, Fusion, EDGECAM, MASTERCAM, SOLIDWORKS). Experience using measurement tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment. Proficiency in 3D scanning, 3D printing, and reverse engineering techniques. Knowledge of machine calibration processes and quality control methods.
Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail. Ability to think critically and resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical information to clients and colleagues clearly. Ability to conduct training sessions and produce relevant instructional material for clients and employees.
