Purpose Statement

To contribute towards minimizing bad debt, enhancing profit, and mitigating and controlling risk for Capitec Business Bank (CBB) and Capitec Rental Finance (CRF) through:

  1. Analysing, monitoring, and reporting on the book segmentation, tactical strategies, campaigns (calls/digital), and solutions for pre-delinquent, collections, and recoveries.
  2. Analysing, monitoring, and reporting on book trends (for example, reasons/triggers for arrears, excess, risk grade changes, downgrades, write-offs, and provisions).
  3. Identifying, analysing, and monitoring high-risk portfolios, clients, book segments, and industries in distress.
  4. Contributing to researching, analysing, designing, implementing, and monitoring optimal risk management solutions, in relation to systems, processes, policies, and procedures.
  5. Performing case study and root cause analysis on pre-delinquent, arrears, and/or non-performing loans.
  6. Performing arrears follow-up, monitoring, and control as required.

Experience

Minimum: 2 – 3 years within collections and/or recoveries, ongoing-risk or credit management or operational experience.

  1. Applying data for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  2. Credit and business analysis experience and influencing processes, policies, and procedures.
  3. Case study and root cause analysis.
  4. Consumer and complaint resolutions.

Ideal: 3+ years of experience in an ongoing risk management role, in a credit environment.

  1. Drafting business processes, policies, and procedures.
  2. Project coordination and building strong relationships.
  3. Process efficiencies: Draft of idea documents and business specifications.
  4. Credit book monitoring and reporting.
  5. Experience in granting, collections, and/or recoveries and/or intuitive/judgemental credit environment within the financial services sector.

Qualifications

Minimum: Higher Certificate in Credit Management or Banking.

Ideal or Preferred: National Diploma in Accounting - Financial Accounting or Banking.

Knowledge

Minimum: Good understanding of credit and corporate legislation and processes.

  1. Banking and financial services industry practice.
  2. Collections and recoveries systems and processes.
  3. Operations and process management.
  4. National Credit Act (NCA).
  5. Retail and/or Business credit products (Fixed term and facilities).
  6. Reporting and data analytics.

Ideal: Credit risk management throughout the credit life cycle (granting to book sale).

  1. Collateral variants/types of processes.
  2. Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI).
  3. Debt Collectors Act (DCA).
  4. Capitec Bank's Credit Policies.
  5. Capitec Bank's banking system (Front- and Back-End).
  6. Programming language SQL and database structures.
  7. Knowledge of Capitec Bank's Centralised Collections systems and processes.
  8. Relationship building and management techniques.
