AML Analyst

One of the top wealth managers in South Africa is looking for an experienced and passionate AML Analyst to join their dynamic team in Cape Town.

As the AML Analyst, your primary objective will be to ensure the company's AML/CFT/CFP policies, processes, and controls relating to risk management, customer due diligence, and risk assessment are implemented and adhered to.

Key qualifications and experience required for the AML Analyst:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject matter (i.e., law, finance or business)
• Certificate in AML Compliance / ACAMS (ideally)
• Comprehensive understanding of the AML legal framework in South Africa
• Knowledge of Guernsey AML requirements is preferable
• Proven track record of performing enhanced client due diligence and onboarding complex legal entities

Key duties of the AML Analyst:

• Perform enhanced client due diligence for all high-risk clients
• Provide a specialist function to Accountable Institutions in respect of legal entity onboarding
• Perform customer due diligence and risk assessment when onboarding a client as well as throughout the life cycle of the client relationship
• Perform sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening on all clients and its related parties
• Ensure that all clients and linked parties are registered for ongoing screening
• Perform FATCA/CRS checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of data and correct classification of clients
• Perform transaction analysis to identify suspicious or unusual transactions
• Maintain excellent knowledge of sanctions regimes

Key personal skills:

• Exceptional report-writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
• Proficiency in data analysis and presentation of findings
