AFRIKAANS TEACHER (GRADE 8-12) PART-TIME

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Afrikaans Teacher in the High School who can inspire confidence and joy in Afrikaans, while contributing positively to our school community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality Afrikaans instruction to high school students, ensuring the development of proficiency in both written and spoken Afrikaans, tailored to different levels of ability.
• Develop innovative and engaging lesson plans that inspire a love for the Afrikaans language and culture, fostering both academic excellence and enthusiasm for learning.
• Foster a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, exploration, and curiosity in the study of Afrikaans literature and language.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow educators, sharing best practices for effective Afrikaans instruction and encouraging a collaborative and supportive teaching environment.
• Engage with parents and the broader school community to support student learning and development, providing regular updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies to help students succeed.
• Actively participate in all school activities, contributing to the overall school spirit and community ethos, and supporting the holistic development of students beyond the classroom.
• Monitor and support the pastoral care of students, ensuring their well-being and addressing any academic or personal challenges they may face, particularly in their Afrikaans studies.
• Engage in continuous professional development by actively participating in reflection and staff development processes, staying current with the latest educational practices and trends in Afrikaans teaching.

Minimum Requirements:

• A recognized teaching qualification with Afrikaans specialisation in High School;
• Proven experience in teaching High school Afrikaans with a track record of Grade 8-12 Afrikaans teaching;
• A passion for Afrikaans and the ability to inspire and engage young students;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a personality suited to a community-focused environment;
• Current and Valid Registration with SACE and Police clearance;
• Computer literacy and ability to integrate IT suitably in teaching and learning;
• Current teaching experience in an ISASA school;
• Must have the ability to identify with the values and ethos of SAHETI School.
