Job description

Founded in 1877, Durban Girls’ College is a leading independent girls’ school with a proud history and a strong Christian ethos that offers an innovative, forward looking and relevant education for girls from Grade 00 to Matric.

This is an opportunity for a self-motivated, caring individual with strong organisational, creative and administrative skills. They should be good with people and passionate about girls’ education.

The ideal applicant must be keen to learn new things and have a willingness to develop fresh methods of teaching Afrikaans to Grade 8 to Grade 12’s, preferably with IEB experience.

The following will be regarded as a given:

  1. Have an appropriate education qualification from a recognised institution
  2. 5 years’ experience as a High School Afrikaans teacher
  3. Be a team player, with well-developed interpersonal skills
  4. Have experience in using Google Classroom and able to integrate IT into teaching
  5. Be willing to participate in the extra-curricular programme of the school
  6. Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  7. Be SACE registered
  8. Must be in possession of a current Criminal Clearance, Child Protection Register Clearance and Sexual Offenders Register Clearance Certificate.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a commitment to embracing the core values and guiding principles of Durban Girls’ College.
