Accounts Payable Clerk

The Role

Risk Management of accounts payable for the Sandvik Companies in South Africa. Safe guarding company against risk, and ensuring the company complies with South Africa legislation. Enforces and monitors that the global internal controls are applied on all foreign and local transactions.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Implement and support the development of Accounts Payable policies and rules
2. Prepares, records, verifies, analyzes and reports accounts payable/receivable transactions
3. Pays vendor invoices and receives and posts customer payments on a timely basis
4. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable/receivable ledger accounts, financial statements and reports
5. Prepares analyses and reconciliations of bill runs to detect fraud
6. Ensures that transaction entry verification procedures are followed
7. Responsible for and to coordinate approval roles and limits
8. Support Sandvik business and External Service Center in relation to escalated invoice mismatched

Required Competencies:

1. Strong analytical skills
2. Attention to detail and the ability to work logically, consistently and accurately
3. Good working knowledge of accounting information, while keeping up to date with changing Sandvik financial rules and regulations
4. Ability to discuss financial issues with both fellow professionals and those with little or no financial background
5. Self-motivated and excellent time management skills
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Excellent computer literacy - MS Excel is a must
8. Must be able to work independently

Your Profile:

1. Grade 12/ Equivalent qualification
2. Minimum of 5 years Accounts Payable background
3. Degree in accounting
4. Professional qualification
