Who are we looking for?

We are on the lookout for an Accounting Assistant to join our team.

This position entails performing basic administrative functions, as well as assisting the Accounting / Finance Department with data entry, processing and reconciling transactions, updating ledgers, assisting with audits or fact-checking, and preparing reports.

We are looking for an individual who can work productively and efficiently in both a team environment and independently.

The Accounting Assistant should be detail-oriented, efficient, thorough, accurate, and honest with good organisational skills. The ideal candidate should have a high level of numerical and written proficiency, with the ability to multitask and manage their time efficiently.

This position would be greatly suited to you if you are an enthusiastic and fast learner, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to always help, and take initiative. Attitude and willingness to learn trumps experience for us, though experience is also an important factor and will count in your favour.

The salary for the position is market-related.

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing support to the Accounting / Finance Department.
  2. Performing basic office tasks, such as filing, scanning, data entry, answering phones, processing electronic and physical mail, document shredding, office procurement, etc.
  3. Handling communications with vendors via phone, e-mail, and in-person.
  4. Processing transactions and updating ledgers.
  5. Preparing basic financial reports and reconciliations.
  6. Assisting with queries, audits, fact checks, report generation, and resolving discrepancies.
  7. Any other tasks as may be required from time to time.

Skills:

  1. IT Proficiency, especially MS Office and MS Excel and related software. Experience with accounting software will assist with role progression.
  2. Attention to detail.
  3. Typing skills.
  4. Numeracy skills.
  5. Communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Organisational, record keeping, and time management skills.
  7. Professional manner, honesty, integrity, and a strong ethical code.
  8. Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
  9. Commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
  10. Familiarity with basic accounting principles will assist with role progression.
