A distributed power and remote monitoring company in the mobile telecommunications industry is seeking an Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will oversee financial operations, including accurate reporting, general ledger management, tax compliance, and cash flow management. This role also supports budgeting, forecasting, audits, and inventory control, ensuring financial integrity across all entities.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant degree or qualification in accounting
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Ability to manage multiple entities and handle complex intercompany transactions
Experience in the telecommunications sectors
Experience with Xero
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure accurate and timely closing of monthly accounts across all entities.
Provide support for audits, including preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. Ensure timely closure of audit findings.
General Ledger Management:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
Oversee and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank accounts.
Maintain fixed asset register including conducting asset counts, posting depreciation journals, and reviewing for additions and disposals.
Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journals, such as accrual, prepayments, and depreciation.
Management Accounts, Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget variances and provide detailed analysis to management.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Assist in the monthly preparation of the monthly management accounts as delegated by the reporting manager.
Taxation and Compliance:
Prepare and submit tax filings (VAT, payroll taxes, corporate tax) and liaise with tax advisors.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and ensure the business remains compliant with changing regulations.
Cash Flow Management:
Manage cash flow, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and accurate reporting of cash positions.
Maintain weekly cash forecasting schedules and model to ensure visibility on working capital requirements in future periods.
Inventory Management:
Conduct regular inventory reconciliations between physical counts and recorded stock in the accounting system, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Monitor and report on stock levels, ensuring that inventory is valued correctly and provisions for obsolete or slow-moving stock are accounted for.
