Job Purpose
The role of the accountant is to provide expert financial support and drive financial success of the organization by managing and reporting on financial transactions. This includes providing accurate financial information, analysis, reporting to enable informed business decisions and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The accountant plays a critical role in providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and long-term financial planning.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial reporting and analysis including ratio analysis and understanding
- Analyze financial data and report to finance lead - monthly, quarterly and for year-end.
- Perform ratio analysis and understanding of entities financial results including Income statement, Balance sheet and Cashflow and related notes in order to make informed decisions regarding acceptance of customers/distribution programme.
- Prepare retirement calculation for wholesale at year-end.
- Assist in budget and forecasting when applicable.
2. General Ledger and reconciliations- Maintain the general ledger by ensuring transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled.
- Ensure queries on reconciliations are followed up and cleared.
3. Fixed Assets - Additions / Disposals / Transfers for wholesale- Monthly Depreciation Process and review of depreciation for wholesale.
- Review of assets and depreciation rates.
- Review of profit/loss on disposals with depreciation rates.
4. Monthly Closing- Run month end processes - (reverse accruals etc, journals on SAP).
- Run wholesale journals - park and post on SAP.
- Review TB for wholesale and provide commentary to Finance lead.
- Assist with Group queries when received from console team.
5. Tax Compliance- Prepare tax returns, manage VAT, corporate tax filings, and ensure adherence to tax regulations.
i.e. Monthly VAT Returns and related tax calc- Provisional Tax Returns and related tax calc.
- Annual Tax Returns and related tax calc.
6. Reporting, preparing presentations and preparation of financial statements on CaseWare.- Roll packs for Balance sheet and prepare balance sheet presentation for wholesale.
- Prepare working capital for wholesale.
- Prepare adhoc presentations as required.
- Annual Financial Statements preparation in entirety.
7. Audits- Assist in the preparation for external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure accurate and timely audit follow up on outstanding work with the business and escalate to Finance lead where applicable.
- Assist with JSOX requests if applicable.
8. General and Process improvement- Develop processes that will assist in monitoring, reporting and analysing the accounting data.
- Automation and driving innovation in the area.
9. Health and Safety- Complies with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
10. General- Perform other ad hoc tasks as required by the finance lead or management including but not limited to Transfer pricing and Pillar 2 information and valuations.
Qualifications & Experience RequiredEducation, Master, other certification:- Financial Degree in Accounting/Finance (CA preferable).
Experience (years):- Minimum 2-3 years with accounting experience in manufacturing industry (preferred).
Technical Skills:- Attention to detail and strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in SAP, CaseWare and accounting software (Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word).
