About the job Accountant

Our client, a dynamic company offering auditing and accounting services and tax and business advice, has an opportunity for an accountant in Stellenbosch.

The position is at a middle management level, reports to the Partner/Director, and requires an applicant with absolute integrity and excellent communication and leadership skills, who will ensure the professional stature of the firm.

The successful candidate will ensure a high level of service delivery standards to clients.

Responsibilities

  1. Performing and reviewing independent reviews of small and medium-sized private companies and groups.
  2. Reviewing bookkeeping to trial balance and monthly reconciliations.
  3. Completion and submission of statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, DWT and IWT).
  4. Submission of tax returns via e-filing.
  5. Preparation of salary schedules and payslips.
  6. Preparation and review of financial statements according to IFRS for SMEs Companies/Closed Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.
  7. Responsible for measuring and implementing financial controls to minimise business risk.
  8. Calculation of tax liability for Companies/Closed Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.
  9. Management of statements and accounts.
  10. Various reconciliations (Debtors and Creditors).
  11. Stock/Inventory reconciliations.
  12. SARS related queries.
  13. Registration of VAT/PAYE and Income Tax.
  14. Payments on behalf of our clients.
  15. Preparation of fees, budgets, and quotations.
  16. Achieve team, individual budgets, and business performance objectives.
  17. Formulating professional development and educational plans for junior staff members.
  18. Bi-annual merit evaluations of trainees.

Required Skills
  1. Strong MS Office and accounting software skills.
  2. Good communication and interactive skills.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  4. Effective team management skills and functioning within a team.
  5. Effective time management skills.

Required Education
  1. A SAIPA accredited degree.
  2. Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
