Eduvos is looking to employ the services of a regional Academic Programme Convener (Faculty of Information Technology), to be based at our East London campus, on a permanent basis.

The Position:
To manage the day-to-day delivery of lecturing of the BSc Information Technology programme.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum qualification:

  • Honours degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computing, or IT related
  • Relevant Masters degree will be preferable

Experience:

  • At least five years’ experience as a lecturer in the higher education industry
  • At least two years’ experience in educational management and leadership

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

As the Academic Programme Convener, you will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Accountability areas – operating / financial results accountable for:
  • Accountable for the operational delivery of lecturing related to Information Systems and Computing programmes and offerings (lecturer performance) at the allocated campus
  • Accountable for the performance of the community of practice and alignment with development hub
  • Operational process outputs:
  • Qualification related subject matter expertise
  • Lecturing responsibilities (at least one module per block, which may go up to 75% of total workload allocation)
  • Management:
  • Budgets
  • Input into academic budget
  • ICA claims processing
  • Operational planning e.g., programme implementation planning and training (per mode of delivery) incl. sequence, prerequisites, etc. (academic planner)
  • Monitoring, control, corrective action
  • Reporting – regular feedback as per program manager requirements and Head of Programmes
  • Escalations / Decisions / Problem solving – 1st point of contact for student complaints
  • Resourcing and capacity management (people; equipment)
  • Leadership:
  • Assistance with talent acquisition, selection and onboarding
  • Individual performance management - role clarity and objectives; reviews; feedback; corrective actions
  • Culture and climate and change
