Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to design and implement forensic auditing tools to assist with the prevention,
detection and response to irregularities related to governance, risk and control (GRC) in the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Group.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  1. Design, implement and assist with maintaining and continuously improving forensic audit tools to ensure a structured forensic auditing approach within the SARB Group.
  2. Conduct forensic audits based on the audit universe to identify non-compliance or deviations from existing Bank-wide policies and procedures.
  3. Conduct forensic investigations by gathering, analysing and preparing evidence in a manner suitable for further action.
  4. Perform fraud risk assessments to identify high-risk fraud exposure within the SARB Group.
  5. Provide quality reports and recommendations on gaps in GRC.
  6. Develop and implement fraud awareness initiatives and training within the SARB Group.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
  1. a minimum of an Honours degree or NQF 8 qualification relating to Forensic Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management, or an equivalent qualification;
  2. a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification; and/or Chartered Accountant (CA);
  3. a minimum of five to seven years' experience within a forensic auditing environment.

Additional requirements include:
  1. knowledge and skill in:
  2. industry, organisational and business awareness;
  3. quality assurance; and
  4. continual improvement in learning/professional development;
  5. a solid grasp of risk management principles, tools, methodologies, frameworks, policies and processes; and
  6. extensive experience in internal audit principles, tools, methodologies, frameworks, policies and processes.

The SARB is responsible for regulating cross-border transactions, preventing the abuse of the financial system and supporting the regulation of financial institutions.

Payments and Settlements

The SARB is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the national payment system, which is the backbone of South Africa's modern financial system.

Statistics

The SARB provides important economic and financial statistics that present an overview of the economic situation in South Africa.

Research conducted by the SARB focuses on economics, financial stability, banking and emerging trends in finance. Our research supports policy decision-making.
