2152 Director: Protection Services (P5)

Main purpose of the job

Responsible for overseeing and managing the university’s comprehensive protection and security service. This position ensures the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, faculty, visitors, and university assets. The role encompasses strategic development, operational implementation, and oversight of modern technologies, emergency preparedness, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. A forward-thinking approach is critical to enhancing the university’s security and compliance framework.

Nature of appointment: Permanent Support Services

Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company): R 1 448 433 per annum (2025 salary scales to be confirmed)

Accordingly, the preferred candidate may expect an offer that is in line with their qualifications and years of similar experience. Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Security Management/ Criminology or equivalent.
  • Private Security Industry Regulation (PSIRA) Grade A certificate.
  • Ten (10) years' proven extensive senior management experience in security, or crime prevention environment, law enforcement or protection services environment.
  • Knowledge of systems and technologies related to protection services.

Desired Qualification, Knowledge And/Or Experience

  • Master’s Degree (NQF 9) in Security Management / Criminology or equivalent.
  • Private Security Industry Regulation (PSIRA) Grade A certificate.
  • Twelve (12) years’ proven extensive senior management experience in security, law enforcement or protection services environment of which five (5) years should preferably be within a tertiary education environment.
