Job Description:

Parsons is adding to our environmental services team! We are hiring environmental geologist with 5 to 10 years’ experience with a desire to support various federal projects across the country in all aspects of environmental investigation and remediation, and an anticipated focus on PFAS. What You'll Be Doing:

1. Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of basic scientific principles and fundamental theories.
2. Assist with the drafting of technical proposals and project documents, such as work plans, UFP-QAPPs, monitoring reports, and closure reports.
3. Lead field work efforts for environmental investigations, including overseeing drilling, conducting low flow groundwater monitoring, push-ahead groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sample collection, and soil sample collection.
4. Participate on multiple teams simultaneously working on varied projects pertaining to PFAS investigation and remediation, military munitions response, and/or other hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste contamination.
5. Perform soil, surface water, groundwater, and sediment sampling efforts including Health & Safety oversight.
6. Assist and perform basic geologic, hydrogeologic, and hydrochemistry tasks including preparation of cross sections and compilation of environmental sample analyses.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

1. 4-year degree in geological sciences, or related discipline.
2. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
3. OSHA 8-hour Supervisor training.
4. Experience leading environmental sampling programs in the field.
5. Professional Geologist/Geoscientist Registration, or application in process.
6. Strong communication and writing skills - an example of an authored writing assignment will be requested.
7. Demonstration of success in working in a team environment, being an excellent team player as well as a leader.
8. Willingness to travel to project sites and perform field work up to 60% of time.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

1. Master’s Degree in geology, or related natural sciences discipline.
2. 5 to 10 years of environmental consulting work experience with office experience (writing work plans, reports, coordinating field projects, etc.) and field experience (Health & Safety responsibility, subcontractor/drilling oversight, groundwater/soil sampling, etc.).
3. Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations (such as CERCLA, RCRA, etc.).
4. A valid driver’s license, the ability and willingness to travel to and from field locations up to 60% of the time.
5. Should be able-bodied as the work requires some physical exertion such as extended periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activities.
6. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow).
7. Task or project leadership experience both in the field and office and willingness to train and develop junior employees.
8. Experience with PFAS projects with advanced PFAS technical training provided.
9. Ability to perform leadership role supporting PFAS and conventional contaminant projects.
10. Interest in training and mentoring junior geologists in the field.

Salary Range: $61,200.00 - $107,100.00.
