Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your love of data, and participate in implementing a high visibility/high reward statewide initiative? If so, join us as the data architect of Colorado’s State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). This data system, authorized by HB24-1364, will combine data from the agencies that oversee Early Childhood, K12 Education, Higher Education and Labor and Employment. This longitudinal data system will enable us to evaluate the outcomes of various educational and workforce programs by tracking individuals' outcomes and producing reports based on those aggregate data.

As our new Data Architect you will work with the implementation vendor to design the system architecture, ensuring that we conform to all relevant state security policy and protect the privacy of individuals. While our current focus is initial system build, the system will require future enhancements and developments. Come help us establish the foundation of a system designed to benefit Coloradans for years to come!

Some of the important duties that you will perform include:
  • Consult as a resource on data strategy and architecture to OIT and agency partners. Advise in strategic direction and ideation, removes roadblocks, and assure on-track alignment with executive expectations.
  • Drive innovations, collaborations, and insights establishing a strong data-driven approach to decision-making across the organization. Bring best in class technologies, innovation, and creativity to the table in developing technical solutions to solve complex multi-dimensional problems.
  • Provide technology expertise by architecting, prototyping, researching, recommending, documenting, and assisting in implementing and evaluating technical solutions for business issues whether purchased or developed.
  • Assess new data initiatives to determine compliance with the architecture, information security and data standards. Coordinate the review processes with project planners.
  • Interface with vendor technology/solutions, as well as appropriate involvement of OIT architecture, throughout the entire project lifecycle.
