Financial Controller

We are an Istanbul & New York-based independent digital media and technology company dedicated to building a captivating information landscape for tomorrow. Our team thrives in a dynamic environment, and we are looking for a detail-oriented Financial Controller to join us in managing our financial operations.

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial aspects of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting and management. This role requires a meticulous approach to financial documentation, stakeholder management, and a deep understanding of royalty payments and agreements.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and present monthly Profit and Loss statements (PNLs) to the CFO and managerial board.
  • Generate accurate financial statements in compliance with regulatory standards and report to the management.
• Royalty Management:
  • Oversee the administration of royalty agreements, ensuring timely payments, high efficiency in record-keeping and accurate tracking of royalty claims.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to manage royalty payments and resolve discrepancies.
• Financial Oversight:
  • Conduct close scrutiny of financial documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Control banking statements against the company’s financial books, performing regular reconciliations.
• Cash Flow Management:
  • Prepare weekly cash flow statements, analyzing spending patterns to provide timely insights to management.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather necessary accounting data and provide financial insights.
  • Work closely with CPA, (if necessary) external auditors and accounting team related to royalty agreements and overall financial performance.

Qualifications

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, audit, or consulting, preferably within the technology or media sectors.
• Skills:
  • Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to financial documentation.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools; experience with royalty management systems is a plus.
• Language Proficiency:
  • High level of proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
