Job description

The WSHE Supervisor (Scaffold) is responsible for supervising and co-ordinating safety aspects and procedures focusing on scaffolds operations on site as required under the Workplace Safety & Health Act and its related legislation. This includes in-house requirements as well.

A summary of the responsibilities of this position are, and not limited to, as follows:

  1. Assist the WSHE Officer / WSHE Coordinator to identify any unsafe condition in the worksite or unsafe work practice in the worksite and to implement reasonably practicable measures to remedy the unsafe condition or work practice (mainly focusing on scaffolds and its related activities).
  2. Assist the WSHE Officer / WSHE Coordinator to identify any environmental non-conformance and to implement measures to rectify the condition.
  3. Check Sub-Contractors' work to ensure compliance with the WSH Act and its subsidiary legislations, including the provisions of the WSH (Construction) Regulations, WSH (Scaffold) Regulations and its related requirements.
  4. Carry out site WSHE programmes, procedures and assist in organising WSHE awareness activities such as tool-box meetings, WSHE orientation, WSHE induction, promotional activities, etc.
  5. Monitor risk assessment compliance and report to WSHE Officer for any non-compliance on scaffold operations in particular.
  6. Ensure risk assessment control measures are implemented for all site activities.
  7. Be prepared to stop work or to notify the WSHE Department in the event of any WSHE deviations.
  8. Liaise with site team members and contractors on schedule of scaffold erection and dismantling to suit site activities.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Minimum WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace, Safety and Health (Level A) as stipulated in the Singapore Ministry of Manpower’s accepted WSH-related qualifications.
  2. Experience: Minimum 3 years of Building experience with minimum 2 years of scaffold supervisor experience.
  3. Building Construction Supervisor Safety Course.
  4. Certification in Scaffold Supervisors Safety Course (including scaffold erector courses).
  5. Certification in Confined Space Safety Assessor and Lifting related Course would be an added advantage.
