Job description

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Dual Certification and Registration:
    The WSHO cum ECO must be registered with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer and with the National Environment Agency (NEA) as an Environmental Control Officer.
  2. Experience Requirement:
    The candidate must have at least 3 years of post-registration practical experience relevant to the scope of work under the contract, ensuring competence in managing safety, health, and environmental matters.
  3. Ensuring Compliance with WSH and Environmental Legislation:
    The WSHO cum ECO is responsible for ensuring all works comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Environmental legislative requirements, including adherence to the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Environmental Protection and Management Act, and other relevant laws.
  4. Safety and Health Management:
    Plan and implement safety procedures by developing and maintaining a Safety Management System (SMS) addressing project-related hazards. Monitor work processes for safety compliance, conduct risk assessments, carry out on-site safety inspections, and ensure worker training in safety protocols.
  5. Environmental Management and Control:
    Develop and implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) for compliance with environmental regulations, conduct audits and inspections, oversee waste disposal, and monitor for potential environmental hazards.
  6. Compliance with Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Control at Work Zones:
    The WSHO cum ECO must ensure compliance with the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Control at Work Zones, oversee traffic control measures, conduct inspections, and coordinate traffic management plans.
  7. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    Investigate all safety, health, or environmental incidents, prepare reports, recommend corrective measures, and ensure reporting to relevant authorities.
  8. Collaboration and Communication:
    Liaise with contractors, supervisors, workers, and authorities to uphold safety standards, provide briefings, and act as the point of contact for regulatory inspections.

Requirement:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the construction industry, preferably with a developer/main contractor.
  • Must be a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with MOM and have practiced as WSHO for at least 2 years.
  • Experience in developing a Risk Management Implementation Plan (bizSAFE Level 2) or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team player.
