Job Summary
The Wintel engineer will be responsible for designing, implementation, and management of Windows-based infrastructure (servers, desktops, laptops).
Skillset Required
- Provide on-call 24 x 7 support on a rotating basis
- Perform routine audits of systems and software and perform system backups
- Perform standard or project change request as per change window
- Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
- Responsible for system security compliance, health check & server hardening
- Document incident RCA report, the configuration of the system, and system performance tuning
- Monitor availability and performance to ensure proper functioning of server systems and applications
- Proactively provide assessment and improvement on current infrastructure
- Plan and participate in disaster recovery tests; experience in full system recovery and restoration
- Monitor utilization and plan for server systems capacity upgrade
- Ensure compliance with IT security standards, policies, and procedures
- Diagnose and resolve any system issues or problems
- Liaise and work with other technical teams including Application Developers and vendors
- Administer enterprise-sized VMware-based virtualization infrastructures covering vCenter and stand-alone ESXi environments version 6.5 and later.
- Design, plan, implement, and administer IBM enterprise server and storage technologies in support of underlying virtualization infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and integrate servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
- Perform backups, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
- Build highly available server clusters in a vSphere environment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance within the VMware environment.
- Build and configure virtual networks (Standard Switch / Distributed Switch)
- Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of hardware maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.
- Replace Network LAN/WAN servers supporting the virtualization infrastructure.
- Ensure the security posture for the virtualization environment by monitoring system security and documenting system configurations
- Build and maintain VMware templates (i.e., adding software packages, patching, hardening to VM templates)
- Conduct capacity review and planning for VMware environments. Good knowledge on HA, DRS, FT, VMotion, and Update Manager.
- Perform ESX hosts upgrades, Standard and VDS network troubleshooting, Virtual Center upgrades, storage management
- Administer global Active Directory Infrastructure
- Administer global DNS and related Zones
- Implement and manage Domains, Domain Controller
- Group Policies, PowerShell scripts, and Domain upgrades for large organizations.
- Plan and implement Group Policies Objects (GPO) to ensure compliance with security standards for domain controllers
- Troubleshoot and maintain high availability for Active Directory, GPO
- Identify opportunities, continually review, and improve the security posture of Active Directory.
- Administer global Active Directory Sites/subnet design and deployment
- Knowledge of Microsoft permission types, precedents, and managing ACLs
- Collaborate with Internal Infrastructure Teams to resolve escalated support issues
- Promote and demote domain controllers as required by data center migration activities
