Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President of Risk and Governance to lead our risk management framework and governance initiatives under the Planning Department for India Division.

This role will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, enhancing risk management practices, and fostering a culture of governance across the division. This role will report to the MD and Head of Planning, India Division.

This role involves day to day responsibility in working with the India entities in overall identifying risk for the Division, recommending process improvements, conducting market research, and communicating financial and strategic insights to senior management.

This role will also require deep collaboration with relevant departments to set Governance's priorities and key focus areas as part of the annual plan and ensure this is rolled out. Report any results or deviations to the plan to relevant committees. It will also include the day-to-day co-ordination, agenda setting, and effective functioning of Committee to effectively manage risks.

In addition, plan and coordinate Human Resources related initiatives in cooperation with subsidiaries in areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) activities. Also ensure that HR policies incorporate best practices in risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor and ensure robust framework for risk and controls in the business and operations including alignment of Risk Appetite Framework of subsidiaries with Head Office.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control mechanisms and processes within various banking functions and operations.
  • Formulate initiatives and solutions to address audit findings and internal control issues in collaboration with local offices with progress tracking to provide comprehensive, accurate and timely reporting to management and other stakeholders.
  • Perform analysis and prepare risk reports related to liquidity and market risks for internal stakeholders.
  • Promote effectiveness of internal controls by implementing continuous improvement measures in banking supporting functions.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy in reporting and providing periodic concise/risk-focused input and updates to senior management on audit and internal control related matters.
  • Monitor achievement of key performance indicators and promote effectiveness in risk and control environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 7 to 10 years working experience in the Banking sector with experience in dealing with issues related to governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of banking operation, compliance, regulatory and internal control issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, market and credit risks, will be highly desirable.
  • Experience in tasks related to risk reporting, analysis, and process improvement for internal and regulatory reports.
  • Experience in early issue identification and analysis, and implementation of solutions ranging from risk control mechanisms and frameworks including evaluation of corrective actions will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills supported by good problem-solving and logical reasoning capabilities.
