Job description

Job Purpose

Responsible for Trade Finance marketing and customer engagement, structuring Trade solutions, and meeting Trade KPIs for SMBC Singapore and GTFD.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Carry out marketing activities for trade finance products (LC/ guarantee issuance, LC confirmation / discounting, ARP, SCF, milestone basis mid-term trade solutions, structured trade, and ECA finance). Develop relationships with customers (non-Japanese corporate clients, SG local companies, and Global subsidiaries in SG).
  2. Responsible for marketing from origination, structuring, negotiation, documentation to deal execution for corporate clients. Manage workflow with team members from GTFD and other departments including but not limited to Coverage, Legal, Credit, and Operations for successful deal management.
  3. Demonstrate SMBC’s best practices by following internal rules & procedures, relevant regulations, and compliance matters (understanding on mission statement & 5 values, related HQ policies, procedure manual, pre-consultation process, etc).
  4. Prior experience in handling trade financing products and solutions for commodity and trader segments preferable.
  5. Report progress on pipeline deals and updates on marketing activities, support Head of Working Capital in business and reporting activities. Act as back-up for colleagues in the team during compliance leave or other periods as agreed with GTFD management.

Job Requirements

  1. Rich experience in trade finance marketing promotion, origination, structuring, commercial negotiation, and deal execution.
  2. Strong customer-centric mindset and active marketing attitude.
  3. Strong communication skills to manage key relationships internally & externally.
  4. Demonstrate SMBC’s best practices as a role model, act as the 1st line of defense, and have a good sense of 2 CCF (customer/compliance comes first).
  5. Ability to work on multiple tasks in parallel under pressure and to time constraints with significant changes.
  6. Experience in supporting the planning of the marketing strategy and execution in APAC’s countries and sector approach.
  7. Good understanding of Singapore Trade Finance, Trade digitalization, and Transaction Banking products and competitor landscape.
  8. As a team player, ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver appropriate trade finance solutions for the customers.
