Vice President, Global Spend Management (GSM)

What the day will look like

  • Accountability for the opportunity pipeline. Lead and manage key initiatives, including the prioritization of high visibility projects and providing direct management, line of sight and input into deals requiring executive level approval.
  • Develop and drive global category strategy underpinned by regional nuances, category expertise and industry best practices to deliver savings and transformation of the categories.
  • Interface and influence senior level stakeholders and leaders within the organization through healthy tension relationship to drive greater outcomes for the firm.
  • High decision-making responsibility. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Decisions have a major day to day impact on area of responsibility.
  • Manage and lead a global team.
  • Develop strong partnerships with executive team and engage internal stakeholders in order to understand business objectives and desired outcomes.
  • Develops benchmarks and metrics including a routine scorecard to set baseline standards and review for improvement opportunities.

How this opportunity is different

As part of the GSM function, you will be responsible for Strategic Category Direction for nearly $1B in Global Spend for select categories under your leadership while also partnering with regional leaders. Incorporate business priorities and objectives along with category management activities, leveraging line of business knowledge and executive relationships to deliver high performing results.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum of 15 years of procurement experience.
  • Deep category experience required in Indirect procurement areas such as: technology, business process outsourcing, professional services, marketing & print, real estate and office / corporate related services.
  • Communicate with clarity, conviction, and confidence across all levels, both up and down the organization. Able to understand and work in a large scale, complex matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving cost savings and total cost ownership.
  • Possesses strong ability to work with and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, particularly related to spend/procurement.
  • A strong executive presence, well-developed presentation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
