Position Overview
The Vessel Manager is responsible for the overall management and technical oversight of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance with regulations, operational efficiency, and cost control. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of vessel operations.
1. AUTHORITY
Full accountability for the assigned vessels' technical and operational performance.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Technical & Operational Management
· Ensure vessels comply with international and local maritime regulations.
· Monitor class survey status and coordinate with stakeholders to complete surveys on time.
· Oversee vessel performance and provide technical guidance, including monitoring the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
· Conduct crew evaluations for Masters and Chief Engineers and report findings to management.
· Plan and execute vessel inspections as per the Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
· Respond to emergencies in line with Emergency Response Procedures.
Budget & Cost Management
· Prepare, review, and monitor operating expenses (OPEX) for assigned vessels.
· Provide insights and commentary on budget variances.
· Develop dry-docking specifications and budgets, supporting execution and cost control.
Reporting & Compliance
· Ensure vessels maintain essential critical spares onboard.
· Review and verify vessel reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and provide necessary recommendations.
· Analyze reports related to fuel, lubricating oil, cooling water, boiler water, and drinking water, ensuring corrective action when needed.
3. Qualifications & Experience
Educational & Professional Requirements
· Marine Engineering qualification (COC (MOTOR) Class 1 or 2).
· Minimum one year experience as Chief Engineer or at least two years as a Technical Superintendent.
· Ability to manage high workloads, fast-paced environments, and irregular working hours in the global shipping industry.

· Extensive technical knowledge of ship operations and onboard machinery.
· Experience in vessel budgeting and OPEX management.

· Proficiency in QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) management concepts.
· Strong command of written and spoken English.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data reporting tools.
