Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Unix-based servers, including but not limited to Linux, Solaris, or AIX environments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and implement solutions to improve performance and reliability.
  • Security Management: Apply patches, monitor vulnerabilities, and ensure Unix systems meet security and compliance standards.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Shell, Python) to automate repetitive tasks and enhance system efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across Unix systems.
  • Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, network teams, and application developers to support infrastructure requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date system documentation, procedures, and configurations.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Proven experience with [specific Unix OS like Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Solaris, etc.].
  • Skills: Proficiency in Unix/Linux command-line tools and shell scripting. Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Experience with virtualization and cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure). Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, NFS). Knowledge of storage technologies and file systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
