Underwriter, Marine (Insurance Industry, $5-7K + AWS) (ID: 669212)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Assist the Head and work with own Team Leader and members to:
2. Review and prepare underwriting / renewal information
3. Prepare Marine Raters for discussion with Team Leader / Head.
4. Underwrite simpler risk and maintain a profitable book of Marine Cargo business.
5. Prepare quotation slips after finalization with Team Leader / Head
6. Attend to queries or mid-term changes from existing accounts
7. Liaise with intermediaries and follow up on new quotations and renewals
8. Ensure timely and proper passing down of instructions to Policy Administration with the required information / documentation.
9. Ensure that sanction checks are conducted.
10. Handle the checking of policies and broking slips
11. Update and maintain the records, schedules, statistics, etc.
12. Assist the Head, own Team Leader to compile, analyze and prepare monthly reports required for monthly meetings and business reviews.
13. Ensure that an acceptable pricing and terms is determined within own underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines, on new business and renewals.
14. Ensure acceptable loss ratio through coordinating account stewardship process, loss control activities, tracking and following up on large claims and related activity as required.
15. Ensure evaluation of facultative reinsurance needs and coordination as necessary within company underwriting and risk control guidelines.
16. Stay current on competition, underwriting environment, and market conditions and to share findings and updates with all members of the team as appropriate.

Requirements:

1. ACII, ANZIIF or Degree/Diploma in Insurance
2. Basic Degree/Diploma in Business or Maritime with CGI
3. Minimum 4 years’ experience in Marine insurance underwriting with direct intermediary engagement / technical underwriting.
4. Knowledge of Marine insurance operations, underwriting procedures and understanding in Marine Cargo classes, products and policy wordings.
