Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Surgeon with a strong background in naval operations and trauma care for a short-term deployment. This role offers an opportunity to apply your surgical expertise in a dynamic and mission-focused environment, contributing to the well-being of a diverse patient population during a critical period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of general surgical procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, and trauma-related surgeries.
  • Provide expert trauma care, handling complex and emergency cases effectively and efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and ensure high-quality post-operative care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Offer expert consultation and support to healthcare professionals within the facility.
  • Stay updated on advancements in surgical techniques, trauma management, and medical technologies.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with other medical professionals to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Singaporean healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives during the deployment period.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution with valid board certification in General Surgery.
  • Completion of a general surgery residency programme and a minimum of five years post-residency experience in general surgery.
  • Extensive experience in trauma surgery, with the ability to manage high-pressure situations and demonstrate advanced surgical techniques.
  • Previous service or experience in a naval or maritime healthcare environment is highly preferred.
  • Singaporean citizenship is required for this position.
  • Valid medical licence to practise in Singapore, with in-depth knowledge of the Singaporean healthcare system and regulations.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to lead and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a short-term assignment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on the latest advancements in surgical techniques.
  • An empathetic approach to patient care and adherence to high ethical standards.
