Job description

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Course Delivery:
    • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons on Sociology or Criminology subjects, depending on expertise.
    • Facilitate discussions, critical analysis, and collaborative activities to enhance understanding.
  2. Review and Prepare Course Materials:
    • Refine lesson plans and teaching materials.
    • Incorporate real-world examples, research findings, and case studies to ensure relevance and engagement.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and comprehension.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support academic and professional growth.
  4. Research and Subject Expertise:
    • Stay updated on current trends, research, and developments in Sociology or Criminology.
    • Share practical knowledge and insights to enrich the learning experience.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.
    • Work with program coordinators to align courses with institutional objectives.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Passion for education and subject expertise.
  • Familiarity with local and international issues in Sociology and/or Criminology.
  • Experience with virtual and blended learning platforms.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, including social workers, healthcare professionals, and law enforcement.
  1. Educational Background:
    • Master’s degree or higher in Sociology, Criminology, or a related discipline.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven teaching or training experience in Sociology or Criminology.
    • Relevant industry experience in social research, criminology, or related fields is a plus.
  3. Skills / Professional Certification:
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to simplify complex concepts and engage diverse learners.
    • Competence in developing and delivering adult education programs.
    • Certification in Adult Education or Training (e.g., Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment - ACTA).
