About The Role

We are seeking to hire a Fixed Income Trader to execute orders from portfolio managers and analysts across our APAC book of business, to include cash and derivatives. This is an execution role, but there is significant opportunity and expectation to add value to client portfolios through collaboration with portfolio managers and analysts. This position is based in our Singapore office.

Wellington Management's trading philosophy and practices are based on the principles of seeking best execution, contributing to portfolio alpha, and managing regulatory, operational, liquidity and investment risks. We seek to execute orders in a manner consistent with these principles and in accordance with our written policies, which emphasize the fair dissemination, aggregation, and allocation of investment opportunities across our investment platform and ultimately our clients.

Responsibilities

Principal responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Executing Macro, Credit, and FX transactions, using a mixture of high-touch and low-touch execution methods, for all relevant accounts under management.
2. Executing orders in a manner consistent with our best execution and risk management practices, as well as our policies and procedures.
3. Gathering, analyzing, and disseminating market, sector and security information that identifies or creates actionable investment opportunities.
4. Developing and enhancing over time an in-depth understanding of the investment philosophies and strategies of our portfolio managers, strategists, and analysts.
5. Soliciting potential trade interest from portfolio managers and locating external supply/identifying internal demand for liquidity opportunities in the market.
6. Remaining informed of new product developments.
7. Fostering new trading relationships and leveraging existing relationships.
8. Monitoring and improving efforts to enhance efficiency while mitigating risk.

Qualifications

A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

1. Have a minimum of 2 years' relevant Fixed Income trading experience. Experience trading a wide array of instruments would be additive.
2. A demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment;
3. A strong work ethic, an outstanding attention to detail, and a proven ability to work deliberately and carefully, even under tight deadlines and time pressures;
4. A self-starter attitude and ability to proactively identify, review and lead efforts to improve our processes;
5. Strong organizational and communication skills.
6. Impeccable integrity, fiduciary mindset, and ability to consistently place the interests of our clients as the number one priority;
7. Strong analytical skills and an ability to apply those skills in a highly practical fashion.
8. Strong quantitative skills, programming experience would be additive.
9. A pro-technology mindset and the ability to leverage technology to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
10. Strong academic credentials; a Bachelor’s degree is required, and MBA/CFA (or progress toward) would be additive.
11. Fluency in English; proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is a plus.
