JOB PURPOSE

The Trade Compliance Specialist is a crucial role within the Sandvik Mining and Construction Logistics Ltd (SMCL) Trade Compliance Team. The key purpose of the role is to support the team with the Trade Compliance blocks in the GTS system related to sanctions, border transactions and to ensure achievement of goals and objectives through consistent system oversight of all goods imported and exported on Sandvik’s behalf. This role will help ensure that global transactions are undertaken in compliance with export/import laws, regulations and controls administered by the local government agencies.

This position will demand constant concentration on global customs regulation frameworks such as harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, import duties rules, Free Trade Agreements and various other matters.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Acquire and maintain sound knowledge of business operations to identify and mitigate trade compliance risk whilst analyzing potential mitigation options.
  2. Responsible for Trade system activities (GTS Compliance module and Trade Express), that involves:
  3. SPL (Sanction Party List) – Conduct daily system checks to ensure possible matches are not the same business partner as SPL Listing.
  4. Embargo screening.
  5. Management of licenses, handle export license requirements for your divisions.
  6. Interact with key stakeholders to ensure full support of the operations.
  7. Execute Sandvik’s Global Trade compliance vision, metrics and achievements to key Stakeholders and Leadership on a regular basis.
  8. Be aware of changes in trade laws, determine impacts on the company and disseminate knowledge to relevant stakeholders across the organization.
  9. Research legal regulatory requirements and ensure legal compliance within government rules and regulations.
  10. When necessary, prepare paperwork required for import/export processes with trade compliance attributes.
  11. Work cross functionally with legal, regulatory, finance, quality, IT, R&D, and operations teams to achieve Sandvik’s mission, vision and objectives.
  12. Act as first point of contact between local customs authorities and Sandvik’s entities.
  13. Provide expertise with Trade Compliance for export and import activities.
  14. Review tariff classification of products for export and import in accordance with applicable regulations when necessary.
  15. Ensure that procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements are in place for all appropriate areas of responsibility and personnel at manufacturing sites.
  16. Investigate and gather information to create reports for potential or verified matters of non-compliance.
  17. Conduct custom post-entry internal audits.
  18. Understanding and optimizing Free Trade Agreements.
  19. Work with suppliers or sourcing team to get correct country of origin and origin declarations.
  20. Ensuring Free Trade Agreements processes are always used to Sandvik’s full potential in the system.
  21. Knowledge on Preferential review of calculation process and applicable rules, BOM analysis.
